Kevin Biese, MD, MAT


Kevin Biese, MD, is the Medical Director of Value-Based Care at Call9, where he provides clinical input into the creation of value-based care reimbursement models that support Call9’s mission. In addition to his work with Call9, he is an associate professor of emergency medicine with a secondary appointment in internal medicine in the Center for Aging and Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). He serves as the UNC Emergency Medicine vice chair for academic affairs as well as fellowship director for geriatric emergency medicine and co-director, Division Geriatric Emergency Medicine. He has helped lead the creation and definition of geriatric emergency medicine fellowships for emergency medicine residency graduates. 

He is co-principal investigator on the John A. Hartford and Gary and Mary West Foundation-supported Geriatric Emergency Department Collaborative. He serves as Chair of the American College of Emergency Physicians Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation program. He is an emergency medicine past co-chair of the Council of Residency Directors' Academic Assembly and served as chair of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine's Fellowship Approval Committee. His passion is for improved education and systems of care for older adults, and he has published multiple materials in both these areas.

Dr. Biese attended medical school at UNC and completed his Emergency Medicine residency as part of the Harvard Affiliated program. He also has a M.A. in Teaching from the University of Portland.
